A resort is a place where people go as a rule to relax and recreate for holidays or vacations. These are places or even towns operated by a one owner. The most popular resort towns are Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, Barizo of Spain, Cortina d'Ampezzo of Italy, Nice or French Riviera of France, to name just a few. As a rule resorts are placed in exotic areas, in the mountains or at the sea side and ocean. Resorts are sometimes misused to identify a hotel. However, the term “resort” means a broader range of services and amenities, besides food, drink, lodging, sports. Here we can also mention shopping, sight-seeing tours, golf courses and tennis courts, driving, fully-equipped fitness centers, spas, casinos, etc.
Resorts also offer a larger number of lodgings and fancier entertainments than hotels. A resort town may feature a few hotels. Top ten USA resorts include Four Seasons, The Cloister, Wheatleigh, Whiteface Lodge, the Greenbrier, The Breakers, Montage, Wynn Las Vegas, Post Ranch Inn, and The Ritz-Carlton.
