We spent the week, April 4, 2010 to April 11, 2010, in the Iberostar resort in Cozumel. On our last night there we went to the lobby bar to have a drink before dinner. We got our drinks and sat at one of the tables in front of the bar. Approximately 15 minutes later we realized we left our camera on the bar when we picked up the drinks. It was gone. It was not busy like the 4 bartenders told the lobby manager(only 3 people at one end of the bar when we got the drinks). We also had some cash and our room keys in the camera case. It was our fault for forgetting the camera on the bar and although we have no proof, we feel strongly that the bar tenders took it.
Also we went back to our room earlier than usual one day and the tip money we had left for the maid was gone, but the room had not been cleaned. Another day we saw a man in an Iberostar uniform (not the maid) going into other rooms. We think someone there is going into rooms taking tips before the maids come to clean.
We spoke to other tourists staying there that also had problems with things disappearing and also felt the management didn't care or were possibly even responsible for some of the missing items.
Although we had a great vacation, we would not consider going back to Iberostar. When you are off the resort, you may expect someone to take advantage of you, but on the resort you expect the staff to be honest.
Monetary Loss: $250.
